Mechanical Moth

Stumbled across Mechanical Moth accidentally but my goodness what a find - German synth/electro/goth/industrial at its utter finest!

Those of you with usenet access and the know-how to handle NZBs may find this link useful.

Here's a sample of a track off their newest double CD.

A Covenant Of Thorns

Back when mp3.com was truly an Internet-cornerstone website, I discovered A Covenant Of Thorns. Scott-David Allen is the solo mastermind of this brilliant gothic / darkwave music. I would like to think that if I could somehow convince Propellerhead's Reason to work the way my mind would like it to, my output might sound like ACOT. Yeah right. I just did a quick check in iTunes and of my 20 most listened to tracks, twelve of them are of ACOT. My favorite at the moment is 'Only A Priest'. Let me know what you think.

Din [A] Tod

Do yourself a favor, ye lovers of obscure European music, and head here. Din [A] Tod is a German band with a sound that has me wholeheartedly mesmerized. Unfortunately, all I can find of them is a 4-track EP (perhaps only on vinyl?) and it'd end up being nearly $35 USD to purchase it. Instead, for the time being, head to their site and click on "sounds". You'll get four clips of their tracks.

I discovered them by downloading from usenet
(a.b.sounds.mp3.gothic-industrial to be exact) a complilation of Various Artists called Awake the Machines, Volume 5. Din [A] Tod has a single track on this album that you can download here. Enjoy!

Almost forgot. For a pretty sweet and for the most part well-behaving Usenet search and NZB creator, I'd try binaries.nl . And once you create that NZB, try NZB-O-Matic, a free and ridiculously small app. Perhaps in the future, I'll stop downloading Usenet headers altogether and rely solely on NZBs.
